Two weeks out from the 2025 GWM BMX Racing National Championships getting underway at Macarthur BMX Club, we checked in with six hometown heroes. Here's what they had to say.
Jye Furner (Elite Men and Superclass Men)

Q: Howdy Jye, if your U23 national title last year felt like a dream, then what would it mean to pull off another big result at home this year up in the elites?
Jye: Winning the U23 title last year was a big step for me. It also motivated me to go even further and now that National championships are in my backyard I’m hungry to get another big result in the elite class.
Isla Basa (16 Girls and Superclass Women)

Q: Hi Isla, what are you looking forward to the most about a home GWM BMX Racing National Championships?
Isla: I am most looking forward to having the opportunity to chase a national title on the track I usually train at, as well as all my family and friends being able to come and watch me race and support me which is really meaningful.
Andy Hughes (Elite Men and Superclass Men)

Q: G'day Andy, what's your favourite section of Macarthur and why does it get you frothing?
Andy: My favourite section of Macarthur is a very niche section of the track. It would be from halfway down the start Hill to over the first jump one of my strongest areas on the track.
Mason Thorn (15 Boys and Junior Superclass Men)

Q: Hi Mason, a home track GWM BMX Racing National Championships is nearly here! What do you want to achieve in your own backyard this year?
Mason: I’d love to take the national title at home this year!! More than that, I want to put down consistent laps and keep building momentum heading into a home Worlds next year. It would mean a lot to achieve that in front of my family and home crowd.
Michael McCarroll (Junior Men)

Q: Hey Michael, the hype of a home GWM BMX Racing National Championships is getting real, what are your goals for the week?
Michael: So my goals are just to really just try my best during motos and just see how I go all day really my main goal is to make the final and to see what I can really pull off for it considering it’s a home Aussie titles but I guess we will see what happens when the time rolls around.
